Kiyori City date guide

(This article appears in the September issue of Attention SL, read the magazine here. The theme of the September issue was black and white, hence the black and white pictures by Aria)

Recently, Aria and I went to Kiyori City, an Asian themed urban sim.  This is a two region development by Jasmine Kiyori.

The older, original sim includes night markets with more of an adult feel to it, while the newer sim is meant to give the impression of being in Tokyo or Seoul.

If you like neon lights, great architecture, lots of places to explore, then this place is for you.  Kiyori City also includes one of the best hotels in Second Life, the Takai.

This guide, illustrated by photos from Aria, will give you an idea of what to do when staying at the Takai Hotel for one or two nights.

Check in, choose your room

Kiyori City has its own metro and train station, which gives a good flavor of what to expect (SLURL).

Exit the station, turn right and walk down the road until you get to the Takai Hotel.  Then take the elevator to reception.

Rooms start at 885L a night for the “Zen Suite”, to 1495L for the “Sora Penthouse”, which is where we stayed.

All rooms are located in skyboxes, meaning more privacy and less lag, and have a modern Japanese feel to them, complete with windows that look out onto an urban cityscape.

On two levels, the Sora Penthouse has a large kitchen / dining room, a bathroom, and sitting area on the ground floor.

The top floor features another seating area, and the main bedroom, which has a corner hot tub in the room.

The room has a Fancy Decor Maddox, which is a decent choice with good animations.

Head for the casino

The Takai Hotel has its own casino, which is restricted to guests and Kiyori City residents only.

In many ways this is the highlight of the hotel, it’s bright, loud, full of slot machines and designed in a way you imagine a casino in a Far East gambling center like Macau to be.

Some of the games even work (clearly not for money).

Take a dip in the pool and spa

It’s permanently night time in the pool area, so you may want to leave this until the evening.  It has moody lighting, with neon signs outside the windows.

It also has a selection of adult furniture from Trompe L'oeil, and as the pool is restricted to guests you are unlikely to be disturbed.

The spa is small, but with a nice selection of plants and Japanese decor.  There is a spa bot who will give you a massage (PG), but this wasn’t working when we went.

Eat dinner while looking at the fish

The restaurant (self service) has an aquarium on one side, meaning you can look at the fish while eating dinner.  Along with the rest of the hotel, the decor is of a really high standard, and this is a pleasant place to hang out and chat, there is also a bar area near the kitchen.

Explore Kiyori City

This is of course something you can do, whether you are staying or not.  Highlights of Kiyori City (SLURL) include:

A K-Pop bar (SLURL)

An art gallery with Japanese themed art (SLURL)

A Japanese themed blues bar (SLURL)

And a cat cafe - note, this has a separate group joining fee (SLURL)

There’s also a small park with a cafe, and of course just walking around and looking at the lights of Kiyori City is worth doing in itself.

Romance and more

The Takai is adult, and there are plenty of adult options in the rooms and in the pool area.  However, the Kiyori City sim itself is moderate.

If you are looking for something with a bit more of an ‘after dark’ feel about it though, cross the bridge into the original Kiyori sim which has plenty of dimly lit bars, as well as a love hotel.
