Fête: The Restaurant Experience ⭐️

Summary

I've been to Fete three times now, which should already tell you that I very much recommend it.

A few months back, I was invited to the opening, then several weeks ago, Aurelia and myself went for a double dinner date along with Aurelia's best friend Semina and her partner Zack.

And finally, the two of us have just gone again to coincide with Fete opening a restaurant as part of the Switzerland vacation experience (more on that later).

At time of writing, Fete is nominated for a Dope Award, and I can see why. The two guys who run it, Exeter and Je’Von, have brought RL levels of service to an SL restaurant, something you don't always see. And the restaurant itself is really nicely designed.

The Fete Website

A note about this post

This isn't a hotel review, so I've obviously not structured this or rated Fete in the way I normally would.

Many of the photos relate to our dinner in Fete's Swiss Restaurant, but this is only open until the end of January 2022, so the overall post is applicable to the experience you’ll get at Fete's main venue.

Finally, thanks to the beautiful and talented Aurelia for her help, if you have any photo needs, please go and check out her brand new photography business.

Overall look and feel

The main Fete Restaurant reminds me a little of high end five star dining and resort clubs I've seen in the Middle East and Europe, as it's more than just a restaurant.

There's an entrance area / lobby, a restaurant and a more private dining area. However surrounding the main building you also have gardens, as well as a pool. Fete hosts live events, DJ singers both inside the restaurant and by the pool.

Meanwhile Fete's temporary Swiss restaurant was we thought the best designed building of the sim, it was definitely a highlight.

The experience

In the past I've found hotel and resort restaurants a little hit and miss, in terms of the service, RP, and the way the food is delivered and displayed.

Exeter and Je’Von clearly know RL restaurants. The routine and the way the menus are presented are excellent. The food and drink is clickable and the anims generally work well. What we also liked is that the team don’t seem to work to a script, but instead the dialogue is much more natural.

When booking you have the option of choosing the dining experience in the main restaurant, which generally takes an hour. Alternatively you can go to the more private wine room, where you get four courses with a wine pairing with each course.

Ordinarily prices are 900L pp for the main restaurant and 1100L pp for the wine room.

Switzerland - Only open until the end of Jan 2022

Switzerland is a 'pop up' style vacation sim that is only open until the end of January. You can book a dining and accommodation package via Fete.

In our case, we went for a two night stay with dinner on the second night (total cost 5000L for two).

Switzerland itself has a series of chalets and cottages, a small village area with shops, and a ski slope with a cable car and ski lifts. As well as Fete, my favourite was probably the bar and lodge at the cable car station.

A comment I hear a lot from resort owners is that they often have no idea how to get decent RP spa or restaurant staff, and it would seem that Fete can provide a ready made solution.

As a result, the idea of attaching a restaurant like Fete to a resort is fundamentally a good one. Indeed, it’s something you see in high end RL hotels, which often house recognisable dining names, and where you then get a two way brand halo effect.

Overall

Speaking as someone who was never really into Second Life restaurant experiences before I started this website, I'm a convert.

Go to Fete and you'll have a really enjoyable date (or as we also experienced, double date) night. Also, check out their live events.

The best SL restaurant experience I've had so far..
