The SL Hotel Inspector

My review policy

I’ve now been asked this by a number of sim owners and potential collaborators, so here it goes.

1 - There needs to be a vague RL feel to it

I include hotels, resorts, campsites, spas, and bed and breakfasts on this website.

But it has to generally feel like one.

  • Does it have some kind of lobby (in a hotel) or bar?

  • It may be an amazing nature sim, but does it have a campsite or guesthouse where you can stay?

  • If it's a resort or spa are there rooms you can rent out by the day?

So, escort places which call themselves ‘hotel’ are out.  However, RP places (and adult RP places) are very much in, so long as they look and feel like actual hotels and you can book rooms.

2 - I will be honest

I appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating a sim and running a Second Life Hotel. At the same time, as there are some SL resorts that charge 3000L+ a night, I’d be doing readers a disservice if I wasn’t honest.

So, does the place look a bit dated? I’ll say so. Ditto if it’s laggy or if the animations are not that good.  And if I’m not sold by a place, I’ll often suggest an alternative that I have reviewed that might give you a better experience.

3 - I pay my own way

Some resort owners have added extra days on my stay, which is very kind, but I don’t look for comps.  In fact, I *want* to pay for everything, as this is meant to be independent.

4 - Guest reviews and collabs

I´m definitely up for people doing guest reviews for me. For an example, see the review of Fiji SL. I´ll pay for your room, you write me the review!

I am also up for collabs with bloggers and / or store owners.

So, if you are a Flickr user, send me a message.
