Introduction

8Capilion is a new Philippines-themed tropical resort, with an attractive beach area, an infinity pool which claims to be one of the biggest in SL, and a large amusement arcade.

Aria and myself were the first guests, going during the resort's soft launch.

Despite the room prices being a little expensive, we were impressed. In particular we’d recommend it for groups and families.

8Capilion is a closed resort, you need to pre-book and you are given your tag on check-in.

Overall look and feel

Arrival involves being sent a group tag and tp-ed into a reception area where you are checked in.

For RP purposes you also have to present branded accommodation vouchers to the front desk - these are sent to you when you book.

You are then taken on a seven minute cable car tour of the resort, which is a nice way to get an overview of it.

The tour involves pre-recorded audio, which in tone and style reminded us a little of a 1950s Disney clip (think black and white film, quite a cheery informational recording).

The resort itself then consists of two areas, a beach area with the beach villas, and what you might call an activities area with the various amenities and a hotel building.

There is consistent branding down to the uniforms that the staff wear and a look and feel that all fits together, something not every resort gets right.

Aria (who is a landscaper and designer) did notice a few small design and build glitches, but overall nothing major.

Overall - 4 /5

Accommodation

You have the choice of staying in a hotel room (which is cheaper), in a Kubo beachside villa (which we did) or in a Grand Yacht.

The yachts are converted super yachts from BBX, note this is not on a sailable sim, so these are to stay, not to sail.

The hotel rooms are in the main building, and include a balcony, small plunge pool, bedroom and bathroom. These are quite compact but nicely designed.

Our Kubo villa had two terraces, a large bedroom and bathroom and direct access to the beach.

Though we of course stayed there as a couple, it's worth mentioning that this can be converted into family accommodation housing two adults and two children.

Again, this was nicely done with great attention to detail.

One thing however to mention is the price.  The yachts and Kubo villas are 2000L pp, so it was 4000 a night for us.  Even the smaller hotel is 1500 pp, so 3000 a night for a couple

That puts 8Capilion in the top end of SL resort prices, it costs more than other high end places such as Vegas SL or the Ishtar Hotel.

However, the Hollywood Villa, which was just being finished while we were there, will be 12,000 a night but can house up to ten people, making group stays much more reasonable on a pp basis.

I got a preview of the villa, this includes a private cinema room, a large pool and a private nightclub.

The facilities

There's a huge range of things to see and do including:

  • The beach with jet skis and a small beach bar

  • The cube restaurant

  • A bungee jumping area

  • Some glamping tents (which for me didn't quite fit with the rest of the resort)

  • A pretty underwater diving area (you get free swim and scuba stuff on checking in)

  • A yoga area

  • And golf

However three things in particular stand out.

The amusement arcade area is huge, and very family friendly.  If coming here on family vacation RP, this is for you.

Not sure about the infinity pool being the biggest in SL, but it does look great.

And the spa is in an underground cave, and is beautiful.  This could do with some sign posting though as at first we missed it

Though we didn’t take advantage of it, spa and restaurant RP is available to book.

Overall - 4 / 5

The animations

Our room had a Kalopsia Adult Bed, as Aria put it, not the best there is, but it will get the job done.

Note this had no MM or FF animations.

The Chez Moi Wicker chairs outside had toddler anims, again with an eye on family RP

The large bathroom, had an earthy adult bathtub

The Hollywood villa for groups is a modified BBX build, and so has BBX beds and anims inside.

Overall - 3 / 5

Other considerations

Lag -  We experienced a little, but Aria was able to take pictures in Black Dragon

Adult or moderate -  This is an adult sim.  This is one reason why children need to be supervised at all times according to the resort rules

Privacy - The villa we were in was private, and as this is a closed resort you will only ever see other guests and staff anyway

Prices start at 3000L for a couple in the hotel room (1500 pp), making it quite expensive

Overall

SL has a lot of beach resorts, so we wondered how 8Capilion would manage to be different.  However, the resort is well designed with plenty to do and really helpful staff.

Most beach resorts (and many hotels) are also adults only, so if you want to go on a family vacation you should consider 8capilion.

Finally, the huge group villa also makes this a great option for parties and special occasions.

Overall - Recommended (Highly recommended for families)
