Review - The Crown Grand Majestic Bali

Introduction

Recently Aria and I were among the first guests to stay at the Crown Grand Majestic Bali, which as the name suggests, is Balinese-themed.

SL has a glut of beach resorts right now, which makes it hard to stand out.

And so, though it didn’t seem radically different to a number of other beach places we’ve seen, we still found it a nicely designed resort with staff who are clearly committed to providing a good experience for guests.

Note the Crown Majestic Bali is a private resort, you need to pre-book via the Facebook page.

Overall look and feel

The first thing to note is that the landscaping was done by AshaRhia, who we know well from her own Badu resorts (NB, Asha does not own or run The Crown Grand Majestic).

You have a very distinctive walkway flanked by statues on either side.  If you’ve been to Asha’s previous places, Badu Angola or Egypt, you’ll recognise this as one of her signatures.

We’ve always been impressed with Badu, and so the outdoor areas don’t disappoint.  There are also a few pools, and games areas.

The reception building, which has the spa attached to it is a highlight, and is one of the best designed elements of the Crown Grand Majestic .

Around the resort itself you’ll then find the villas, nature trails, caves and a beach area.

Overall - 4 / 5

The rooms

We stayed in the Danu Suite, which is at 1250L per person, putting it on par with the kind of prices you find in other RP-resorts.

There was a lot we liked about our suite, such as the Balinese themed wall art, and it had a premium feel about it.

Two things were a little off.

The bathroom had a huge open space in the middle of it, or to put it another way, it was too big for the items and furniture that was inside. Also, the bedroom area didn’t quite fit with the rest of the suite in terms of the colour scheme.

Overall - 3 / 5

The facilities

We took part in an hour long spa treatment, and the staff who looked after us were attentive and we enjoyed the experience.

Other facilities include Sip and Paint - both ‘erotic’ and PG, a zip line, bungee jumping, pole dancing classes, a restaurant (we skipped dinner as it would have been 1am my time), and a nightclub obviously meant for groups who come to stay or special events.

The ‘erotic’ sip and paint and pole dancing is a bit different in terms of offering, other than that the facilities were as you will find in other SL beach resorts.

Overall - 3.5 / 5

Other considerations

We mentioned that the staff were committed and friendly.

A few times though, we felt that there were almost too many staff around the reception area attending to guests. Similarly, at check-in we were handed between four different people.

A better idea may be to position staff members around, so you have someone (for example) in the beach area, offering excursions.

Obviously, one of the features of an RP resort is that you do have staff on hand to attend to you. So the fact that there is a team here that wants to offer a good experience is positive, they just need to be deployed a little differently.

Privacy overall is good, this is a private resort so you will only see other guests and staff.

Prices start at 1250L per person, which seemed fair given what you get and the quality of the resort.

Overall

If you are on the look-out for a beach vacation with RP added on, this should be on your short-list.  Recommended,
