Review - The Starwyn Hotel
The Starwyn Hotel is part of Starlight Cove, a XeoLife based community. As a result, the hotel forms the centre piece of a small town, with the hotel offering rooms to rent on a weekly basis.
There were parts of the Starwyn Hotel I liked. However, when measured against the Luxe Hotel, another Xeolife based place, I think the Luxe is the better option.
Overall look and feel
The first thing to say is that the Starwyn is very pink. It's the primary colour in the decor, and indeed one of the rooms even has a princess / babygirl theme to it.
It's quite a small place, with a reception, a bar / cafe and a wider pool area complete with colourful rainbow lilos. The pool I gather is used to host Starlight Cove events.
Though this is of course subjective, I wasn't a huge fan of the decor, but there were elements I really liked, such as the margarita dispenser in the lobby.
Overall - 2.5 / 5
The rooms
Rooms cost 650L a week, for which you get 50 prims. If renting here, it makes sense to look inside first as I went for the first room along the corridor, which is a pink Princess themed room.
The other rooms however are not like this, and are decorated in a more conventional style.
Each has a bedroom, balcony and a bathroom.
I liked that the standard rooms have a Maddox (adult) bed, and a Loft and Aria Kendall bath, both good choices.
Overall - 3/5
Facilities and amenities
These are both basic and standard, with a cafe, a bar and a pool included.
The Starwyn Hotel did not have a lot of space to play with, but for an example of what could be done, I recommend taking a look at the Victoria, which has managed to put everything from a rooftop tennis court to a laundrette in a small plot of land.
One thing I would maybe do differently is put fewer inflatables in the pool, which is quite small.
Overall - 3/5
Other considerations
It's an adult sim, and there are adult anims in the rooms
Rooms are 650L a week, you get 50 prims
Lag was not a big issue for me
Overall
I appreciate building and designing in SL takes time and effort - and that I've done neither of those things.
Nevertheless, I have to rate hotels I visit in SL against others that I've seen, and so in conclusion I will say that there are better options.
I've already mentioned the Luxe, this is a place you can enjoy whether you are into XeoLife or not, and the standard rooms at 75L a night (or 525 a week) are some of the best value hotel rooms in SL, considering the design.
