A look at Sunvana's Sophisticated Simplicity

(Sunvana will be closing at the end of August 2024)

Stepping into 2024, my exploration now extends beyond hotels.  Instead I also want to look at restaurants, bars and gems like Sunvana - a recently unveiled beach club.

Situated on an island reminiscent of Ibiza or Cabo San Lucas, Sunvana boasts a diverse array of offerings, including pristine beaches, two pools, a stylish bar, an island path for exploration, and an outdoor eating area featuring a pizzeria and bakery.

Accompanying me on this adventure was the lovely and very talented Peuxswau (Peux), whose distinctive and innovative style can be witnessed through her captivating Flickr account.

Overall Look and Feel

Upon arrival, a modest 50L investment grants visitors group access with rez rights. Meanwhile, a motor boat moored off the shore makes for a good backdrop for photo enthusiasts.

A meandering path leads visitors through an outdoor dining space before unveiling the first pool and beach area, adorned with jet skis and sun loungers against a backdrop of natural rocks.

The heart of Sunvana meanwhile lies in its main pool/bar area, featuring a swim-up bar and lounging options strategically placed throughout.

During our visit, a mutual friend was on a lounger with a laptop.  I sometimes ‘work’ simultaneously in SL and RL, and I may now have found a new favourite spot to do that.

While the atmosphere exudes relaxation and style, the proliferation of mesh figures throughout the resort was a minor distraction. From selfie-taking figures on the paths to bar attendants, Peux aptly noted that these virtual entities remind you that you are in SL, when the aim should be to give the opposite impression.

Fortunately, they can be derendered, allowing visitors to maintain their immersive experience.

Practical Information

For a nominal fee of 50L, joining the group grants rez rights

Sunvana hosts periodic events - join the group, or take a look at the Flickr page

In terms of performance, Sunvana impressed with minimal lag, even on a MacBook running ultra graphics settings.

Sunvana is moderate.  As a result, so is the (high quality) furniture.  This is an excellent date spot, but if you are looking for somewhere for ‘adult activities’, this is not for you.

Summary

In conclusion, Sunvana leaves a great  impression with its thoughtful design and inviting atmosphere.

For those seeking a virtual haven that seamlessly marries elegance and relaxation, Sunvana stands as a compelling destination. Expect to find me returning to its shores soon.
