The Continental unveils new delights ⭐️

This is an update of the original review, which you can find here.

Just a month after my initial exploration of the Continental, this really unique destination has already been further transformed, thanks to its highly talented and imaginitive creator, Thecla,

Every week I’ve found a myriad of  additions that not only enhance the appeal of the club and hotel but also extend into the broader Continental region—a cyberpunk-inspired cityscape.  As a result, it was already time to update my original post.

Accompanying me on this new journey was the delightful Mrs. Paige (Pearl), a socialite and connoisseur of high end SL travel.

Follow Pearl on Flickr to uncover the adventures of her various personas, from the elegant Mrs. Paige to Morgana, who harbours a slightly darker side.

What’s new at The Continental?

Here’s whats changed at the main Hotel / Club:

1 - Two new suites have emerged —an opulent Versailles-inspired retreat and another adorned with Persian/Indian decor. While both offer an immersive experience, it's worth noting that as they are free, they are not private.

2 - A grand cabaret hall, reminiscent of a bygone 1930s cruise liner. This space is set to host live singers starting with Tinuviel (Tinu) Abenlow on February 2nd. Stay connected with the group for upcoming details.

3 - Adjacent to the cabaret, the Marrakesh den adds an exotic layer to the Continental's offerings.

4 - The culinary landscape has expanded with the introduction of a new restaurant. While lacking role-playing staff at the moment, its imaginative design  mirrors the overall splendour of the Continental.

Remaining one of Second Life's must see destinations, the Continental continues to enchant.

The Continental (City)

The journey doesn't end within the confines of the club; it extends into a cityscape curated by Thecla, in constant evolution with ongoing additions.

As it’s not remotely possible to do the whole region justice in one post, I’ve picked out some personal highlights.

Immediately upon leaving the club you’ll encounter some quirky and unusual shops, including an antique dealer and the pretty unique Lost Orphan Toys store.

As I was posting this, Thecla had just finished the Red Dragon, this is another intimate lounge style venue with Asian tones, situated at ground level n the city. It looks just fabulous.

I love, love neon, and the neon lights around the region are reminiscent of a bygone Hong Kong..

You’ll find other Hong Kong traces around.  For example, there’s a Chungking Mansions sign, while going up one level brings you to hidden gems like the 98 Degrees tattoo parlour. However, the region has lots of other influences, including Sci-Fi, European and American. It’s an eclectic mix that works

The Vampire Sleep Centre really stands out. Whether or not you indulge in vampire role-playing, you need to see it.

The sushi bar at the end of the sim has quite a unique nomenclature (check the sign in front to see).  Once empty, it now offers  a delightful space for encounters over food and drinks.

For moments of introspection, the temple provides a sanctuary. Walk across the marshes with the knowledge that your journey might involve getting your feet wet in the process.

These are just a handful of highlights. The Continental cityscape holds many hidden treasures awaiting discovery, this SLURL serves as your gateway.

Practical Information

Visting The Continental is free. However the furniture is group gated, meaning you need to be a member to use it. Joining the group involves a one-off 500L fee. There are exceptions, for the example the seats in the cabaret area are open to all as this will be used for live performances.

The Continental has very low lag, I’m able to run graphics on very high or ultra on a macbook without any issues.

This is an adult region, and so much of the furniture is adult in nature.

Conclusion

Really, there is no place like this in SL, and everyone who I have taken to see the Continental has been bown away by what Thecla has done. Go and see it if you’ve not done so, and be sure to spend time visiting the wider region as well as the Hotel.
