The Hotel Del Salto

When I started this website and was conducting research three and a half years ago, I stumbled upon amazing pictures on Flickr of an abandoned hotel nestled in a tropical paradise.

The images were breathtaking, but I was gutted when I found out that the Hotel Del Salto had closed its doors just weeks earlier. Now, creator Jade Koltai has resurrected this gem, and I couldn't resist paying a visit.

The wait was undeniably worth it.

First and foremost, it's important to note that this isn't a place where you'd want to spend the night unless you come equipped with a sleeping bag and don't mind the potential company of insects or even rodents.

The hotel itself is engulfed by nature, with plants now thriving inside, windows missing, and debris scattered throughout the open rooms.

Outside, a main road with a fruit stall hints at the presence of life in the surrounding area.

For me, the true highlight was the area surrounding the hotel.

Built on two cliffs with a deep ravine, the lush tropical landscaping is simply stunning. A pond at the bottom, accessible by a winding path, adds to the enchanting atmosphere.

Along the path, you'll discover seating areas adorned with plates and cups, as if the hotel were still operational.

Finally, a rope bridge (you must sit on it to cross) leads you to a charming little pavilion. It offers breathtaking views and a delightful spot to sit and capture photos, either alone or with a special someone.

I'm unsure how long Jade plans to keep the hotel open this time, so I highly recommend visiting soon.

It's an astonishingly beautiful and meticulously detailed creation that is well worth experiencing. For the best effect, use shared environment and adjust your graphics settings to the highest possible level.
