Naked Shores: Beach Life Meets Underwater Wonder

Update (14 Dec) - This resort has now closed, with a new one called Sunkissed Cove having opened. Review coming soon, the SLURL is here in the meantime

Naked Shores, a new adult resort from the Taylor and Kavanagh families, offers a unique blend of beachside relaxation and underwater exploration. The resort is divided into two distinct sections: a sprawling beach area with furnished and unfurnished rentals and an immersive underwater environment featuring mermaid and merman caves.

Overall Look and Feel

True to its name, Naked Shores caters to residents who prefer nudity or swimwear.

The beach section features a typical Second Life resort layout, with multiple pools, a beach area, and nature trails. While the overall design is well-executed, some rental buildings lack visual cohesion.

The resort compensates with an abundance of activities, including games, water sports, loungers, and several pools. Improved signage would enhance navigation and clarity for visitors.

Underwater Excellence

The resort's standout feature is the underwater area, which showcases exceptional design and attention to detail.

Creating underwater environments in Second Life is challenging, often requiring significant prim usage, yet the creators have achieved a truly impressive result.

This zone alone could justify the resort's existence, surpassing previous attempts at underwater and diving resorts in Second Life. A dedicated zone and series of caves cater specifically to merfolk roleplay enthusiasts.

Accommodation

Naked Shores offers weekly and long-term rentals, akin to Airbnb accommodations.

Furnished options range from a simple 200L per week unit with a bedroom, shower, and terrace to a spacious 800L per week villa.

There’s also a cliffside house at 2000L a week. While the smaller unit is basic, it features a comfortable bed from Lalou. The larger villa (800L) exudes a premium feel with its expansive living area and thoughtful design.

Facilities

Guests have a wide array of activities at their disposal, including multiple pools, games, water sports, a sauna, nature trails, and a beach. However, the highlight remains the underwater exploration experience.

Other Considerations

  • Adult-oriented resort

  • I had no big problems with lag

  • Weekly rental costs range from 200L to 2000L

Overall

While the beach resort provides a pleasant environment for relaxation, the underwater area truly sets Naked Shores apart.

With its impressive design and immersive experience, it's a must-visit destination for those seeking underwater adventure in Second Life. Don't forget your diving gear!
