The vineyards, looking up to the owners’ residence and private villa

The Copperfield Estate and Winery is somewhere I'd put into the category of - great destination, not so great accommodation.

The estate consists of a huge vineyard and wine RP experience developed by people who obviously really, really love wine. Within the estate there's also a guesthouse with ten rooms and a standalone guest villa, which can be rented.

Overall look and feel

Picnic area, one of several

Picnic area, one of several

The estate runs across two sims, with a vineyard and a small forest in the middle. Around the outside there's the guesthouse, the private residence of the owners, and various wine related facilities such as a tasting room and bottling plant. The estate also holds a wedding and events venue.

The Copperfield Winery and Estate itself is in the Gull's Wings groups of Sims, which is sailable, and there is a pier attached to the wedding venue. If holding an event there, the owners recommend arriving by boat for the experience

Outside of the guesthouse and bed and breakfast

As a whole the estate is really well landscaped and developed, the vineyards look good, and the overall winery look and feel is as realistic as I think you can probably get.

Guesthouse breakfast room

Guesthouse breakfast room

The bed and breakfast however is in a guesthouse, where the inside looks much older than the rest of the estate. Second Life furniture and decor doesn't age well, and it shows here.

The bistro and reception look better than the rooms, which are noticeably quite old.

The rooms

Bed and breakfast bedroom

Bed and breakfast bedroom

There are ten rooms in the main guesthouse. These have a bedroom, kitchenette, full bathroom and living room area. As mentioned, the look and feel is quite out of date.

According to the Estate information notecard, the rooms are in theory bookable, but in practice they seem to be free, you can walk in and out and there is no rental box.

There is also a standalone guest villa, which you can apparently rent by prior arrangement.

Guest villa bedroom

Guest villa bedroom

Here the furniture and decor is much more up to date. The villa includes a dining room (with quite a nice balcony) and kitchen, and a separate bedroom with a bathtub.

However there is no bathroom as such, I tend to think if you've gone to the trouble of providing a kitchen then for realism you should have this.

I sent a note to the owners about the price of the villa, but didn't receive a reply. Right now you can walk in and out, but I did see a security orb by the front door, so there is security if you actually book it.

Facilities and amenities

Bottling plant

Bottling plant

There is a lot to see and do here.

Facilities include what is claimed to be the largest vineyard in Second Life, a romantic dining spot, a wine tasting room, a wine bar in the events area, a picnic area, kayaks where you can ride down a canal, and a horse drawn carriage that you can use for a tour of the estate.

Wine cellar

Wine cellar

I was impressed by the level of detail which went into the wine themed areas, down to the labels on the bottles. The owners not only love wine, but clearly know their stuff as well

Rating - 4/5

Animations

I didn't try the room animations but the bed and breakfast rooms have a Simay Design bed and the guest villa has a much newer LAQ Decor bed (adult). I did very much like the wine tasting and drinking animations though in the rest of the estate.

Rating - 4/5

Other considerations

gardens.jpg

Adult - No, moderate with some adult anims in the rooms

Privacy - None in the guesthouse / bed and breakfast. The standalone villa has a security orb

Prices - The guesthouse seems to be free, the villa can be booked by prior arrangement

Lag - Not as such, but the vineyard is quite detailed and it took a while to fully load on a 2016 MacBook Pro running Firestorm

Overall

The Copperfield Winery is a really interesting destination. I recommend it for a morning or afternoon visit. Whether you are a wine lover or not, you can easily spend several hours here. I also think it makes for a great date spot.

But I can't see any reason for you to overnight here.
