Review - Grand Hollywood Tower
The Grand Hollywood Tower is a 1920s / 1930s themed hotel, bits of which are deliberately styled to give you the idea that it's seen better days and that it has hidden, sinister secrets. So, on arriving you are greeted by the sound of lightning and howling wolves
The hotel itself can be split into three parts, each themed slightly differently. There's a deserted reception area with cobwebs, a ballroom, and a hotel floor where there are rooms to rent for a very cheap 150L a week.
Finally, the Grand Hollywood Tower is connected to the publicly open Hollywood Tower Sandbox.
Overall look and feel
The outside of the building does have an early 20th century style about it, it feels authentic.
Once you get inside, the lobby is atmospheric with cobwebs, abandoned suitcases, flickering TV screens, and dusty furniture. It also has a series of 1920s style travel posters on the wall, which I liked.
From the lobby you can get to both the Gold Room Club (the ballroom and entertainment area) and the hotel rooms. The Gold Club Room is a little out of sync with the feel of the rest of the hotel, having a modern bowling alley and greedy table.
It's also quite bare for such a large space, but it's quite possible to give it a miss. It doesn't feel like a core part of the hotel. It is more of an add on.
The grounds of the hotel are quite nicely landscaped, including a small outdoor pool.
Overall - 4 / 5
The rooms
The rooms are basic, but they do only cost 150L a week. You get a bedroom with a bed, wardrobe and chair. As well as a bathroom.
The bath in the bathroom does not work (there are no anims), which is a shame. Only the WC, which is from Dutchie, does.
The bed is a PG Art Deco bed, it has cuddle but no adult poses. It is possible to swap around the furniture and bring your own bed, but at 20 prims, the allowance is quite low.
From what I could see, the rooms have no security or privacy. I was able to walk into rooms with no problem.
Overall - 2.5 / 5
The facilities
As mentioned, the Gold Room Club includes games, but I wasn't a fan of this area. The outside pool however is nice, albeit quite small. There is also an outdoor garden maze, and from there you can get to the public sandbox.
Overall - 3 / 5
The anims
The anims are all PG, but you can add adult furniture to your room. The sitting anims in reception took little adjusting, though I did have to adjust the ones in the Gold Room Club and by the pool.
Other considerations
Is the hotel adult? No, the furniture is all PG
Price? 150L a week
Privacy? Very little, the rooms have no security
Lag? Very little
Overall
I liked the overall theme of the Grand Hollywood Tower, it is quite fun and a little different. I'd certainly recommend visiting, especially if you need a sandbox given that there is one next door.
However, the PG furniture in the room, the non functioning bath and the lack of privacy means I'd suggest visiting without staying.
