Since the day I met Dirk, I have had the luck to travel to many places in Second Life and visit a different hotel and resort almost every weekend.

If you know me, you know that I love winter with its cold and the fluffy snow that covers everything with a soft and white mantle.

But after a while, I also need sun, light, and heat and, after another stay in a ski resort (check Dirk's review on Aurora Ski Retreat here), the idea of spending a weekend at the beach sounded fantastic to me!

This time we went to Nobu Island Resort, a Maldivian-themed hotel and spa experience, the ideal place to recover from the cold of winter.

First thing first, I would like to make it clear that this is also a group-only sim which means you can access it only by booking a stay through their website: you need to fill out a Google Form with all the requested information and a confirmation will be sent to you by email (not inworld).

Payment is done at their terminal inworld and an invitation to the land group will be given to you a few moments before check-in on your arrival day.

Overall look and feel

Dirk and I landed on a tropical beach platform in the sky where our concierge welcomed us and explained, by voice, the rules to follow during or stay and all the amenities the place offers before we were requested to take our place on the helicopter (teleport) which brought us to the resort entrance

The resort consists of the main building where the reception is located, connected on the left to a pier that leads to the bungalows/suites while on the right it connects to the rest of the sim and all the various amenities/attractions and the private VIP area.

The sim looks exactly as you would imagine the Maldives to be: fine white sand everywhere, beautiful beaches, lush vegetation, sun shining, stunning blue waters, and lovely bungalows just waiting to be your luxurious home for the whole duration of your stay.

The Suites

Nobu_02.jpg

The resort offers three categories of suites: Standard, Deluxe, and VIP. Standard and Deluxe Suites are on bungalows while the VIP Suite is a normal house.

Standard Suites can accommodate 2-3 guests and the price is L$ 3000 per night for 2 (additional L$ 2000 is requested for the 3rd guest).

They are a two rooms open layout bungalow, with a small fully functional kitchenette at the entrance, a small bathroom, a double bedroom with a living area and tv, an outside shower, and an outside living area.

Deluxe Suites can accommodate 2-3 guests and the price is L$ 4000 per night for 2 (additional L$ 2000 is requested for the 3rd guest). They are a bigger open space layout bungalow, with a spacious bathroom, a double bedroom with living area and tv, a fully functional kitchen, 5 pools, an outside hot-tub, yoga, and dining area.

The VIP Suite can accommodate 1-6 guests and the price is L$ 7500 per night for 4 guests (additional L$ 2500 is requested for up to 2 extra guests).

It is located in a corner of the sim, protected by a rocky wall for more privacy. It consists of a beautiful, spacious house with two double bedrooms each one equipped with a private bathroom, a kitchen and living room as well as an outdoor living and dining area, a private spa and Jacuzzi, and, of course, a private beach.

We initially booked a Standard Suite but, because our check-in was delayed a little due to RL issues, they upgraded us to a Deluxe Suite for free!

The thing I loved the most about our suite was its space, the view over the beautiful lagoon and its clear blue waters, the aquarium used as a divider between the bedroom and the bathroom, and the glass floor which allowed us to look into the sea under our bungalow.

Amenities and features

Nobu_06.jpg

Nobu offers a variety of activities that do not require any staff assistance. However, if you wish to RP an experience (such as a SPA treatment or a dinner) you have to book them on their website at the time of booking your stay.

At Nobu you can:

Rez a jet-ski and explore the waters of the lagoon (mind the dolphins!),

Rez a golf cart to move around the sim or use the zip lines for a funnier experience,

Enjoy some time at the SPA equipped with a private sauna or at the GYM also equipped with an outside sauna, a pool, and a bar,

Spend some fun time at the game center or try the bumper boats,

Enjoy a dinner at the Bar West and Restaurant,

Explore the Love Cave.

We did try the jet-ski and zip lines, the sauna at the Spa, the Gym bar and the Love Cave, which was absolutely amazing!

We also did book an RP experience at the Bar West Restaurant and it was no doubt one of the best RP dinner experiences Dirk and I had so far since I joined him on his travels.

C.Rose, our waitress, was super sweet and pampered us for the whole duration of our dinner and she took her time explaining the story behind every single dish, showing us how passionate she was about it all.

Overall - 4.5/5

The animations

The sim is rated "Adult" and has adult furniture almost everywhere, not limited to the Suites. The Owners only ask guests to be respectful of people around them.

Overall - 4/5

Other factors

Nobu_09.jpg

Lag - I personally did not have any lag issues.

Prices - From a minimum of L$ 3000 to a maximum of L$ 7500 - additional costs for extra guests excluded.

Rating: Adult - almost everywhere.

Privacy - High, all suites have privacy and as it’s a closed sim, only guests and staff have access anyway

Overall

A beautifully decorated sim, realistic Maldivian atmosphere, lovely and super friendly staff who showed honest care for their guests.

Absolutely an experience I feel like recommending to everyone.

Overall - Highly Recommended
