Overview

Ryu City Hotel is a richly detailed, multi-sim experience that grows more rewarding the deeper you explore. It’s part of a wider mainland campus that mixes hospitality with theme park-like attention to detail. While the central hotel structure feels more functional than luxurious, almost every other part of the sim, from the suites to the spa to the Zen mini golf course, is carefully crafted and thoughtfully executed.

This is a property that rewards immersion. The deeper you go, the better it gets.

Design and Public Areas

The main hotel exterior is modern but plain, boxy and white; it can get washed out under default settings. Switch to Barcelona or Mars Sunset for richer contrast. The interior atrium is large and slightly underwhelming, evoking the feel of an airport or conference hotel. But the mood improves quickly once you move away from the central lobby.

The wine bar is the best of the indoor spaces, intimate and inviting. On the Mezzanine, a stylish vending machine display adds personality without disrupting the vibe. The restaurant is small but well-appointed, with tasteful lighting and elegant furniture (we recognised some Di’Cor Johnson pieces).

A reception bot greeter is present, though not yet functional; one hopes future updates will give it an interactive Q&A.

Performance

The hotel runs fine on mid-to-high settings but suffers from mild lag in the ground-level areas, especially if you’re on Ultra. Skybox destinations like the fitness room, spa, and the suites all performed significantly better. (Our framerates jumped noticeably when we left the atrium.). This however is probably symptomatic of being based on the mainland.

The Campus: Where Ryu City Shines

What sets Ryu City Hotel apart is the thought and effort placed into off-hotel amenities, many of which are located in adjoining sims owned by the same team.

🛀 The Spa

The spa feels luxurious and carefully curated. Lighting is handled beautifully soft, serene, and more effectively experienced at night. Features like a perfumery station, intimate massage areas, and calm textures give it a high-end RL feel. One of the most elegant spa builds we've seen recently.

⛩️ The Mini Golf Course

Here you’ll find a Japanese temple-style garden with stone paths, cherry blossoms, and detailed landscaping along with an Asian themed mini golf course. It fits seamlessly into the wider aesthetic of Ryu City and could function as a standalone attraction.

🏖️ The Beach

A relaxed, pink-skied beachfront with cabanas, a volleyball court, and a small beach café. It’s ideal for hanging out or photography, and it ran smoothly even with multiple Windlight changes. The pink-tinged default environment works surprisingly well here.

Suites & Room Options

Ryu City Hotel offers four distinct room types, all available via rental terminal with timed security entry. Each offers different value depending on the guest’s mood or budget:

💼 Standard Room – L$250/night

A compact space with North Oak furnishings and basic facilities. Cleanly decorated. A solid entry-level option, especially for guests who plan to explore more than nest. Good value.

🛋️ Junior Suite – L$400/night

Spacious and well-styled. It features a kitchen and lounge area, with adjustable backdrops behind the windows (including a Hong Kong skyline and Cove beach). The bedroom is slightly more dated than the living area, but the bathroom is exceptional, modern, glass-walled, and realistic. For the price, this is one of the best-value mid-tier hotel suites we’ve seen.

🏯 Eternal Lantern Suite – L$1500/night

A destination in its own right. This Japanese-style skybox suite includes a foggy mountain terrace, a moss-covered Luna outdoor tub, traditional robes, dressing panels, and a full bedroom with a Lovershop bed. Lighting and fog effects are perfectly tuned to evoke a Kyoto ryokan in the clouds.

“Can I live here in RL?” was Maya’s reaction, and we ended up renting it.

🧳 Executive Suite – L$600/night

This is very different from the others. This high-rise skybox suite includes a glass bath, an office area, and an indoor infinity pool overlooking a stylised Hong Kong backdrop, which you can change btw. The overall aesthetic leans modern, high-spec, and slightly ostentatious, think tech-bro luxury or a crypto party pad.

“Someone a bit younger who likes to play,” as Maya put it. “The whole room fits that aesthetic.”

It’s a good option for guests who prefer a flashier, more urban apartment hotel experience, and the suite itself is well put together, even if its vibe won’t suit everyone.

Backstory & Builder Context

Melody and Brigette told us this project emerged after the closure of Hotel Avalon, a previous hotel Melody built with a now-retired partner. While Avalon had promise, it suffered from overly large public spaces and minimal finish. Ryu City is a clear evolution: more refined, more intentional, and supported by stronger builds throughout.

Final Verdict

The further you go into Ryu City Hotel, the more it rewards you. What begins as a conventional modern hotel quickly unfolds into a detailed, themed destination full of quiet surprises and well-designed amenities. Whether you’re visiting for a night or exploring over a weekend, you’ll likely find more than you expected.

The main hotel building is functional rather than flashy, but the spa, the mini golf, and especially the suites are excellent. This is a highly recommended stay, especially for guests seeking a full-experience destination rather than just a skybox sleepover.
