The High Pass Retreat stands out as a rare find —a high-quality mainland holiday spot with thoughtfully designed accommodations, at a very affordable price. The mountain and woodland retreat, currently draped in a winter theme, has a charm that offers travellers a tranquil escape.
Overall Look and Feel
Once you navigate the well-marked road leading to the retreat, you are greeted by a rental office and a small cafe/bar at the entrance. A woodland pathway then reveals a compact yet festive area that does well in capturing the essence of winter. The attention to detail in crafting an immersive environment is clear, making it an ideal retreat for a brief getaway.

The Lodges
Past the entrance, there's a free campsite . Further in you have the choice of three accomodations —the budget-friendly glamping tent at 100L per night, the 'Nature's Lap' lodge at the same rate, and the more spacious 'Misty Woods' lodge at 150L. All paid options grant rez rights, and a four-night stay rewards you with an extra night.
The 'Misty Woods' lodge, in particular, stands out as a great choice. Boasting an open-plan design with a large living and dining space, it transitions to a well-appointed bedroom and bathroom past a divider. The tasteful decor contributes to an uncluttered and expansive feel, providing excellent value for money.

Facilities
If you are after an RP resort, this is not for you. Instead, operating akin to an Airbnb, the retreat offers a DIY experience, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the surroundings. While a cafe/bar shed is present, the emphasis is on independent exploration. Guests can rez a car, transforming the retreat into a base for mainland trips.
Other Things to Consider
Given its mainland location, the High Pass Retreat is moderate. Adult furniture is present within the lodges, leading to a comfortable and private experience. Security orbs and parcel divisions enhance privacy, while voice is possible in the lodges.
As a Mac user, concerns about lag often accompany mainland locations and snowy landscapes. The High Pass Retreat however gave me a smooth and largely lag free experience.
Overall Recommendation
The High Pass Retreat has wallet-friendly yet excellent lodges, a captivating winter and nature theme, and convenient access to the mainland. Recommended.
