A Celestial Escape at the Illustria Resort

Situated in an otherworldly landscape, Illustria Resort is the latest venture by the creators of Wintercrest Resort (see review). Opened just a month ago, this celestial-inspired getaway offers a unique experience that transcends the boundaries of earthly destinations.

The initial experience made me feel I was in a distant world due to the stark white rocks under my feet and the night sky with a planetary vista above.

Your interpretation, however, may be different. Owner Ayr Cazalet told me that while the resort was designed to evoke an "otherworldly" ambience, the interpretation of the experience is ultimately left to the individual guest.

Overall look and feel

The idea for the Illustria started on Midjourney, the AI image generation tool. Ayr shared that the prompt used to create the initial concept was "a resort that felt like you were not travelling to anywhere in the world you could really go to." Ayr liked the end result and decided to bring it to life.

The result is a stark yet striking environment that blends space-age design elements with a touch of desert charm.

Pathways wind through the rocky terrain, leading guests to the main resort facilities, including a bar, restaurant, reception area, and cinema. On the opposite side, a cluster of villas overlooks a serene body of water, offering tranquillity amidst the celestial landscape.

The villas

While the barren, white rock surroundings can initially feel a bit cold, However, the resort's extensive grounds and villas compensate for the lack of vegetation.

The villas, priced at 300 and 500L per night, are built on rocks situated in the planet’s very dark sea. They boast amazing views of the interplanetary sky, while the villa interiors exude modern elegance, with sleek, minimalist designs predominantly featuring white hues.

The larger villas span multiple floors, each offering a unique experience. From the luxury speed boat moored at the base to the private pool and well-appointed living spaces, attention to detail is evident throughout.

The use of high-quality furniture, such as the Darkfold Legends beds, enhances the overall experience.

The facilities

Illustria Resort offers a range of facilities, including a bar with a bot attendant, a self-service restaurant, a games room, and a cinema. There are also jet ski rezzers, a rocky beach area and a self service spa. Remember that when using some of the watersports on offer, it’s always night here.

While events may be on the horizon, the owners are currently focused on ensuring a smooth and successful launch.

Other considerations

I had no lag issues.

The resort is moderate, but the villas have adult furniture.

There are teleporter boards around the resort making it easy to get around.

The Illustria will stay open until October, after which Wintercrest will open again.

Overall

The otherworldly white landscape may not appeal to everyone, but Illustria is an open destination, meaning you can explore before committing to a stay. Even if you don't plan on staying overnight, a visit is recommended, as this is an escape that is literally out of this world.
