Review - Night Daisy ⭐️

Summary

Edit - Night Daisy appears to have closed (Feb 2023)

Night Daisy is best described as a couple’s destination and dining concept where you can choose to eat at one of five themed restaurants, ranging from Arabian Nights to Paris.

Each then has a suite attached, where you and your SO can stay after dinner.

Aria and myself tried out The Aquarium Restaurant and suite and left feeling that owner Emily Wand has created something pretty special.

The levels of service are excellent, the design is good and best of all each experience is tailor made for you before you arrive.

Highly recommended, especially for couples.

The pictures in this review are from my beautiful partner Aria Christen, be sure to follow her Flickr feed and check out her blog.

Overall look and feel

Night Daisy consists of one of five themed restaurants:  The Aquarium, Elven Forest, Paris in Love, Aurora (Victorian themed) and Arabian Nights.  Each also has a suite attached.

You decide which one you want when you book, we went for the Aquarium.

The actual booking process also includes a form to make sure the experience is personalised to you.

This includes any dietary requirements and even your preferred choice of music. We were also asked to send a couple’s picture, to be used as part of the decor.

There are a range of packages on offer. The couple’s “date night” dinner costs 1450L, but we went for the “swept off your feet” package for 2999L.

This gave us a three course RP dinner where we had the whole restaurant for ourselves, edited pictures for us to keep, and a night in the adjoining suite.

Service levels in SL restaurants and spas can be a bit hit and miss, some we’ve been to (such as Fete) manage it very well, but in others we’ve sometimes even wondered if the owners go to many restaurants in RL.

Night Daisy is definitely in the category of SL places that have RL standards of service.  Every interaction we had with owner Emily Wand from the booking, to the dinner RP, to the follow up was polished and professional.

The one comment is that the menu we were presented with had a huge range of options.

If you’ve ever watched Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares you’ll know that one of the things he gets sweary about is long menus, and less is definitely more here. A specially designed and prepared short menu would definitely add to an already excellent experience.

In terms of design, we of course didn’t see the other restaurants, but we liked the underwater setting of the Aquarium Restaurant.

Overall - 4.5 / 5

The rooms

We stayed at the Aquarium Suite, which goes along with the Aquarium Restaurant. Emily also let us have a look at the Elven Suite.

The suite was compact but quite nicely done.  It had everything you need for one night -  a bed, sofa and bath.  There’s also a small diving area around the suite itself, that you can reach via an airlock.

The Elven Suite is a little bigger, and looks to be a replica of the inside of one of the hobbit houses from the Lord of the Rings / Hobbit films.  Obviously LOTR has a huge fan base, and so this might be something for you.

Overall - 3.5 / 5

The facilities

Night Daisy isn’t a resort or hotel in the normal sense, so it’s not fair to compare it with other resorts.

However, the facilities include the restaurant itself (which has dance balls) and the suite with a small outdoor area (a dive spot for the Aquarium suite, and a little woodland area for the Elven suite).

Overall - 4 / 5

The animations

Normally animations are somewhere, where a destination gets marked down.  Here, the anims are a highlight.

Instead of the usual static sitting or eating / drinking poses, the tables have couples' date animations such as holding hands, toasting each other and kissing hands.  This added a lot to the overall experience.

Meanwhile our suite included a Dutchie Sleigh bed.  This costs 5000L+, and it shows in the animations available.  We liked it so much, we subsequently bought one for ourselves.

This is a MF bed, but Emily told us that she customises the furniture for the couple when they fill out the pre-booking form, so MM and FF options are available.

The tub in our room was from Ariskea, and there was a Bazar sofa.

Overall - 5 / 5

Other considerations

Lag - Not much of a problem, Aria was able to run Black Dragon without issues

Adult or moderate - There were adult anims in our suite

Prices - A couples dinner will cost 1450, but it’s worth paying more and having a suite included.  We paid 2999L and had the place to ourselves

Privacy - The suites are in skyboxes

Overall

This is something a bit different to what you usually see when it comes to SL date and vacation experiences.

Highlights for us included the impressive levels of personalisation, the excellent service from Emily Wand, and the dinner anims, which are the best we’ve come across.

This is definitely somewhere you should consider taking a date.  Highly recommended.
