Review - The Grandviewe Hotel
Summary
The Grandviewe is a small hotel located off of Route 5 on Heterocera. Outwardly it’s picturesque and it's worth coming to visit just to hang out by the infinity pool.
In terms of actually staying here, the owner could turn the Grandviewe into something really good, if she changes the concept a little and sorts out a few design and building glitches.
(Edit - the owner has subsequently contacted me to let me know that the design and building issues have been fixed).
Overall look and feel
The outside of the building is nicely designed, it doesn't look like a standard box, and the distinctive logo you see on the wall is striking.
The hotel itself includes a lovely infinitely pool overlooking the water, a small bar (self service) with loungers, a terrace, a courtyard, an area by the sea where you can rez a boat, an office and a room (on a skybox).
My first impressions were good. The pool is great. and the hotel as a whole is nicely designed and landscaped.
However, there are a few small issues, such as Aria (my partner) fell through the floor in one part of the courtyard when I showed her the hotel.
The office door is a walk through one (and it's not obvious it is so), and the small rope bridge from the hotel doesn't quite line up with the wall on the main road, meaning that there is no entrance as such.
These are all relatively small issues, which could be corrected quite easily.
Overall - 3 / 5
The rooms
There is one room, which you rent by going into the office. However, right now the room has no security so we were able to walk in at will.
It's quite compact, but then again at 150L a night quite cheap as well. Again at first sight it has a pleasant modern feel, but on closer examination, a few things emerged.
There is a small bathroom, but you might miss it as the door looks like a black box, you could mistake it for an extension of the wardrobes.
Then Aria noticed that the bed (a Dreams bed) has been linked to the entire room, which has messed up the scripts. Until this is fixed, the bed can't be used.
The two Fancy Decor Catalan chairs in the room did work.
Overall - 2.5 / 5
The facilities
The highlight is definitely the infinitely pool (a modified Hervae Infinity Pool), which has a small wine bar and sun terrace attached.
There's also a TP point, which takes you down to a rocky shore, where you'll find a Mad Pea inflatable boat rezzer.
I also liked the notecard you are given when you arrive, with SLURLs of nearby attractions. A favourite of mine was the Japanese themed Hiraya Town:
Overall - 4 / 5
The animations
Because of the problems with the bed (see above), the anims couldn't be tested properly.
The room also has a Soy PG shower and a Fancy Decor Catalan Chair.
The Hideki Cafe chairs on the terrace worked fine, with a bit of adjusting as did the Trompe Loeill Mali loungers.
Overall - 2.5 / 5
Other considerations
Lag - Wasn't an issue for me
Adult - As this is mainland, this is moderate
Price - 125L a night
Summary
This is quite a pretty location and build, and there is the core of a good idea here.
In particular why not deal withthe design and build issues we noticed, and then offer the whole hotel up as an airbnb type place for one couple at a time, to make it more of an exclusive getaway?
Until then, this is somewhere you may want to come to spend a few hours by the pool or terrace.
