Tanglewood National Park
Second Life has a lot of forests, parks and campsites, but one of our favourites is the Mountain Drive National Park. This is meant to be a cross between the Montana Mountains and the Ozarks.
Having been to the latter, Aria tells me that the owner Tanger Schreier has done a really good job in recreating something that she’s seen in RL in SL
The park is beautifully landscaped, and looks and feels peaceful. It is a wonderful place where you can enjoy wildlife and nature.
As a result, we’ve featured it, and recommend it as somewhere you should visit this Fall
Here’s what you will find if you come for a stay:

The Sunrise Motel
This is a free Motel with a selection of adult and PG rooms. The rooms are done in a traditional style, which fits the setting.
The rooms have Dutchie beds and sofas, and the bathrooms have Loft and Aria showers. In fact, the furniture selection is better than in many paid for SL Hotels we’ve stayed at.
The Openwater Bar and Grill
This is a restaurant / bar opposite the hotel. Like the Motel, the restaurant has Dutchie furniture, which unlike a lot of other cafe furniture actually works well with a minimum amount of adjusting needed (at least for me).
It’s self-service, so no RP, but nevertheless, it has a really pleasant setting overlooking a lake
The Mountain Cafe
This is a small cafe near the campsite. Again it’s self service, but like the restaurant it makes for a good hang out spot.
Camp Sites
There are two campsites with tents and RVs to rent, one in the Mountain Drive National Park, and another in the adjoining Tanglewood National Park.

Things to do
Other than the cafe and restaurant, there’s a library, park office and a graveyard. But this isn’t a resort with a huge range of facilities, and it doesn’t try to be.
This is somewhere where you go with a significant other, or with friends to relax and take in nature and the scenery.
In particular, there are places you can rez both horses and bikes, and explore the many forest and mountain paths.
The whole Park has also recently been given an Autumn look and feel, with reddish / orange colors, so it’s the perfect time to go.
Tanger told us that traffic is starting to increase, and we noticed that most camping spots had been taken. Even so, we encountered very few people when we were there, which for a place like this is how it should be. As a result, be sure to visit now, before it gets even more popular.
