YanuYanu: The ultimate beachfront retreat ⭐️

Bonaire YanuYanu, a virtual Fijian paradise, has undergone a remarkable transformation in its three-year journey under the guidance of Benjamin Buttons, owner of Bonaire Architects. The resort emerges anew with each iteration, captivating visitors with its ever-evolving charm.

Trinity and I went to stay for a few days, and I left being very impressed by the changes that occurred since my last review.

As a result, while the resort has undergone substantial modifications, it exudes a high level of aesthetic excellence, meticulous attention to detail, and an unmatched arrivals experience.

YanuYanu has firmly secured its position as an excellent beachfront destination, making it highly recommended.

The Arrival Experience

Let's begin with the unparalleled arrivals experience unfolding through air and helicopter travel. While you can opt to forgo this journey and check in at a villa through the rental box, arriving by air and undergoing check-in will very much elevate your stay - both figuratively and literally.

YanuYanu boasts its airline, Bonaire Airlines, which previously operated from the expansive SL Norway International Airport but now resides in its dedicated Second Life Norway - Knapper Airport.

For me, this airport is the best designed in SL, featuring two levels dedicated to arrivals and departures, complete with business and first-class lounges.

Ticket prices range from 500L for economy class to 1200L for business class and 1800L for first class. Economy class provides a waiting room experience at the back of the plane, while business and first class offer a more luxurious journey.

You can book a flight without staying at the resort; our flight did have aviation enthusiasts on board.

The flight experience on a virtual 787-Dreamliner with a livery reminiscent of Etihad Airways, complete with the distinctive 'greenliner' branding, is exceptional. Kudos to our skilled pilot, Elise, who looked after us during the journey.

Upon reaching Fiji Airport, you'll take a helicopter ride offering breathtaking views over the crystal-clear waters below.

Overall Look and Feel

YanuYanu has condensed its layout over the past year, making it more accessible to navigate. A special mention goes to the innovative shuttle, a futuristic eVTOL that can transport you effortlessly throughout the resort. This unique feature adds to the resort's appeal, and we found it incredibly convenient.

The main area includes a spa, restaurant, and reception building, surrounded by waterside and clifftop villas and more affordable tiki-style buildings. The landscape is impeccably designed, showcasing the architectural expertise behind every structure. YanuYanu has invested considerable thought into every detail, resulting in a visually stunning resort.

The Accommodation

Accommodation options cater to various preferences and budgets, with Tikis starting at 950L per night and Mountain and Waterfall villas at 3400L, ideal for two couples. We enjoyed the Atoll View Villa, priced at 2200L, during our stay.

This villa featured an open-plan bedroom and living area, a bathroom with an INM-compatible shower, an outdoor tub, and an expansive pool deck with loungers and a hot tub.

In response to feedback, YanuYanu now offers a choice of bed styles, including Ruckus, Aria (family/PG), or Fourth Wall Engine, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests. Not being a fan of Ruckus, we opted for Fourth Wall, and the anims are generally good.

Small touches like a bottle of champagne upon arrival and wall panels that control everything from security systems to blinds enhance the overall experience.

I also peeked inside the Tikis, which may be smaller but offer a charming alternative for couples who prefer not to have a private pool, especially with the resort's expansive communal pool available.

These compact villas incorporate the same design elements as the larger ones, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere.

Amenities and Activities

YanuYanu caters to various interests, including those in MyStory, with MyStory-friendly features and compatibility.

Amenities and activities include:

  • Air transfer service, as previously mentioned.

  • The convenient shuttle service.

  • Complimentary use of a BBX Yacht for exploration in the Blake Sea.

  • A luxurious spa.

  • A watersports base.

  • A marina where you can rent a boat slip or even rez your boat for independent exploration.

The extensive facilities offer something for everyone, whether seeking a role-playing experience or exploring the resort at your own pace.

Practical Information

  • Prices range from 950L to 3400L per night.

  • The lag is reasonably low despite its mainland connection and proximity to the Blake Sea.
