Review - Adventure Isles

After we’d had an initial look around the new Adventure Isles Resort Aria mentioned that it reminded her of a kind of theme park hotel that you might find at Universal World, Florida. That is probably what the owners are aiming for. This is a place focused on RP activities, and is very suited for groups.

We went to say for three days and this is our review.

Note, this is a closed resort where you need to pre-book. Want to know what this involves? There’s an introductory guide here.

Overview

Adventure Isles has, as mentioned, kind of a theme park feel to it. It’s spread around three regions, each with a different look.

The main area is a pirate town, with lots of things to do and the main reception. Then there is a Japanese / Far East themed area. Finally, there’s a kind of tropical beach resort part.

Despite the three themes not really being connected, it works. There were a few design glitches here and there (e.g. Aria noticed a lack of phantoming in some bits), but overall it looks good and a lot of thought has obviously been put into it.

Overall - 3.5 / 5

The rooms

We stayed in a two level tropical themed “Tiki Villa”, with a pleasant outdoor area. There was also a pathway to the neighbouring Asian themed area, as well as down to the sea.

Overall it was well designed with good attention to detail.

Prices range from 1550 - 1700L a night, which for what you get is reasonable.

Overall - 4 / 5

The facilities

This is where the Adventure Isles really excels. The pirate town area has a row of shops and a games area, and add on packages that you can book include sky diving, sailing (guided with a captain who takes you out), the pirate bistrol (we did this - you have dinner on a pirate ship), yoga and spa treatments.

There are also jet skis and boats free to use on the beach.

Overall - 4.5 / 5

Other considerations

It’s worth mentioning two more things: The arrivals process and the use of Discord.

Arrival is via plane. Here you board an aircraft (I believe on a runway which is built on a platform over the sim), while the owners fly you around. However, you are given a HUD to watch online clips (an ‘in flight movie’). Full marks to the Adventure Isles team for doing something different.

There is a lot of reliance on Discord, though you can opt out of this if you want. Separate voice channels exist for everything from the restaurant to check-in. We did wonder if it wouldn’t just have been simpler to use SL voice as this can get over complicated.

Privacy is good, as this is a closed resort you will only ever see other guests and staff.

There is adult furniture in the rooms.

Overall

This is maybe not the best choice if travelling as a couple (unless you love lots of RP activities), but it definitely is if going as a group. There’ is plenty to do, and the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Recommended.
