Review - Hotel at the Woodlands
Having been to around 150 Second Life hotels, motels and resorts over the past 2+ years, it’s getting harder for me to find something that surprises or amazes me.
However the Hotel at the Woodlands succeeded. After visiting I even suggested to the owner that he might want to consider increasing both the size and the rent. That’s. because given the nightly rate (20L), what’s on offer is really good from a design point of view.
Overview
The Hotel at the Woodands is part of the Woodlands small town community, most of which is available for longer term rentals. The Hotel itself is a modern two storey structure with a small pool and restaurant at the bottom, and a few rooms at the top. The hotel also has a small spa - self service, not RP.
It’s quite small, but a lot of thought has gone into the design, and overall the inside looks great - better than many more expensive hotels that I have seen.
Overall - 4 / 5
The rooms
There are a handful of rooms on the top level. These include high quality furniture (e.g. Loft & Aria beds) and decor, and a view out over the gardens. They don’t have bathrooms, but for 20L a night, that’s something that can be overlooked.
Overall - 4 / 5
The facilities
There’s quite a bit here for a small hotel. The bottom level has both a restaurant and a bar. The outdoor pool looks good, taking the form of a natural water pool with sand and rocks on one end. The upstairs spa is pretty small, but it’s impressive that the Woodlands has it in fhe first place.
The town itself features a bay (this isn’t on the mainland, so sadly you can’t sail out), and a food court with a cafe and a few food stands.
Overall - 4/ 5
Other considerations
Is it adult? Adult anims / furniture in the rooms
Privacy? Once you rent you have access to an orb
Cost? 20L a night
Lag? I encountered very little
Conclusion
Owner Rory Huntsman and designer Geon Garzo did an excellent job here. For the price, what you get is really good value. Recommended
